I am interested to discover the connection between the tags of highways and the instructions one receives using OSM for navigation. I experienced a situation yesterday when I was informed to take a slip road before reaching a roundabout; the approach and departure sections merely split (http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=18/51.30122/-1.04263). Is it the tags alone (such as oneway=yes, perhaps, in this case) that dictate how navigation software interprets them? I should like to know for editing purposes.

How are navigation instructions created?

Conditional restrictions
What (if any) conditional restrictions are supported? If yes, are they equally supported by apps on different OS platforms (Android, Windows Mobile, Windows 10, etc)? In particular, I'd like to know if conditional turn restrictions are supported. These (most often date/time based) restrictions are essential for correct way finding and navigation. Please, shed some light on this topic. Thanks!

hide waterway=ditch in lower zoom levels
Hello,
when you look at this area, you can see lots of tiny small ditches. Looking at this area with MNF these ditches are shown at a relatively large scale. For performance reasons they should be shown only when zooming in. I don't think that a waterway=ditch is an important object for orientation.

Samoa
I couldn't find any discussion about this so:
Are there maps for Samoa available? Both of the islands representing Pago Pago and Apia would be good.

No map updates for PC setup utility v.
A couple of weeks ago I was offered to update the PC setup utility, so I did.
But now I do not get any map updates.
By the way, on the start menu of Windows, the app is called Navigator 15, on the lower right corner of the utility itself, the version is listed as 16.03 ...
In programs and features (win 10 pro, the version is listed as 15.0.2-1
After removing and reinstalling (after fresh download) I have found out later, that there is a program directory Navigator 15 and a separate app in programs and features. So I removed everything again, i.e Setup utility 16 and Navigator 15 und installed Setup utility 16 again what ended, that I have Navigator 15 an Setup utility 15 on the start menu, but a program and setup utility directory 16 now. If I rememper well, I was welcomed by a splash screen welcoming me to Navigator 14 ...
It is always the same with that utitily. Upgrades end in a mess.

Importing PC plotted route onto Windows Phone?
hi all at the MapFactor Forum,
is there a simple way to transfer a pre-planned gpx. route file from something like GPsies or RideWithGPS, to then transfer it to a Windows phone and have MapFactor use it.
I have had a go at converting via "digger" to get the mca. file created but don't know how to go any further.
The reason is, I would like the facility to plot the route on a PC screen, then view it on the phone and be guided along the route, but if I miss a turn while riding, to have MapFactor recalculate and direct me back to the nearest waypoint to continue the journey.
I have followed some of the other tutorial guides but still can't get the route on my phone.
hopefully, this is possible.
thanks in advance.

Road Restrictions in Italian Language
The 3 last voices in Italian (for me) are not very clear.
12th voice: Strada a pedaggio it's that You use the street and after You pay (as in Italy)
13th voice: Strada con pedaggio it's that You before pay and after use it (as in Czech)
14th voice: Pedaggio it's that You pay to enter in the center of big town (as Rome or London) -or this voice it's the 12th and 13th togheter?
Thank You

Feedback on version 2.1.97
I really like this app but having used it extensively over the last two months in Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and France I think that I should contribute my feedback.
There is an annoying lack of consistency in commands; on the approach to a roundabout we have "second exit" and "straight across", " third exit "and" turn left ". At junctions " turn" "bear" and "take ramp" all seem to be used interchangeably. "Bear left" when that will take you across the oncoming traffic seems to me to be dangerous.
I am using the Tom Tom maps and the following may be down to the maps rather than the code, several times spurious "left turns" have been ordered for no obvious reason. Today when travelling on a motorway it occurred obviously it was not possible to turn left and cross the central reservation. Once passed the "turn" everything was as if I had made the turn ie no recalculation of the route. This happens mainly in towns where driver data loading is high.
This is purely personal preference, "Turn left in 200 yards" would for me be much better as "In 200 yards turn left" times without number I have turned immediately to hear "recalculating route" I have turned too early.

Edit color theme area pattern bug (Android)
If I edit (for example) the Woodland area in a color theme in the current Android beta version, and tap on the sample square patch at the bottom of the screen, I get a choice of solid, transparent or pattern fills. If I choose a pattern fill, for example trees, the sample square shows instead a line of 'x's across the centre ("road blocked fill" for line). When the new theme is applied to the map, no pattern appears at all.

Switch NMEA and GPX positions in record menu
GPX is more used nowadays and has more features than NMEA.
So it makes sense to prioritize it in the manual record menu.

Here Map
Why Navigator doesn't accept Here Map (payament) and not only TomTom? Can You work to do & sell Here Map in Map Factor format? So the user can choose from "all" types (2 payment and 1 gratis) and this is very well!!

Hello Thomas
I wait for a answer for this:
Why Navigator doesn't accept Here Map (payament) and not only TomTom? Can You work to do & sell Here Map in Map Factor format? So the user can choose from "all" types (2 payment and 1 gratis) and this is very well!!And after I ask You: if when I pay 19,99 for TomTom commercial maps it's for one time or more time; if it's yes how many times?
Thank You

Drag and drop a route on your road of choice
That would be a great feature, wouldn`t it?
It is possible- some other (but very few) apps have it.

Fastest and shortest path: an example of bad route calculations
With test version 2.2.54 (same problem with the stable 2.1.97 version) and osm data,
when going from 50.6730, 5.5900 to 50.6310, 5.5590,
with this routing_points.xml file for the steps
here are the calculated routes:
- Fastest (16 km, 12 min)
- Shortest (12 km, 13 min)
- Fastest with steps (17 km, 17 min)
- Shortest with steps (7.1 km, 8 min)
- OSRM (7.1 km, 10 min)
- Mapzen (16 km, 12 min)
- Google Maps (7.1 - 7.6 km, 16-19 min)
The steps have been added to force Mapfactor to use the most logical route.
From these numbers, it looks like you are using the same algorithm as Mapzen for the fastest route.
I highly suggest switching to the one used by OSRM.

Bug? "Search the middle"-sign doesn`t go away after searching something along the route
Hello,
I don`t know, if this is bug, or what I could do to eliminate it.
When I have a route, then search something along the route and mark all results and let them show on map:
They are shown as orange signs. But then there is also another orange sign "searching the middle". Okay, I don`t mind.
But that "searching the middle"-sign doesn`t go away, even while driving / navigating. And that`s really bad, it confuses me a lot. And often it even overlays my results of that search along the route.

Traffic circles and number of exists
Hi,
the spoken directions on circles are counted in Navigator. But sometimes some private exists are counted like an regular exit. So the number of the circle exit is not the right one and let you exit the circle to late. How it is possible in OpenStreetmap to sign some exists not to count?
TIA
Dirk
