TMC over Internet

Hello

We are planning to use MapFactor Navigator 14 on Windows 7 tablet PC's.
These tablets have integrated gps sensors and a permanment internet connection (2G/3G).
Is it possible to get tmc - information over internet? Or do we have to buy external gps-receivers with integrated tmc?

Navigator not tolerant at faulty map sync

I used to download maps via the setup utility and sync to my devices with the apps (desktop and Android client) Myphoneexplorer. Since quite a while I face difficulties with that sync process. Anyway it ends with one broken map on the device.

If I start Navigator, I just get the starting splash screen and Navigator closes immediately. After replacing the corrupt map "manually" (manual file transfer via USB and such), I can start Navigator to work again normally.

I am wondering, why Navigator is closing at start because of just one broken map at the same time, when there are plenty of other maps on the device, that are not broken.

Navigator should give a message, that it found a broken map, name the file(s) and than continue with the remainig maps.

Change spoken words in text to speech?

In Navigator Free for Android, is it possible to change some of the spoken words in the text to speech?

Some examples:
Can I change  "carry on straight ahead" to "continue straight ahead"?
Can I change "slip road" to "exit"?
Can I change "roundabout" to "rotary"?

I've tried to edit the "navigation.xml" and "tts.xml" files but it doesn't change.  Does the TTS engine actually read and speak the printed text in these files or is the speech stored somewhere else? 

I read the questions and answers about "Direction change: say the distance at the beginning of the driving instruction" (http://forum.mapfactor.com/discussion/7002) but I can't seem to make changes.

When will Navigator 15 free be released?

Navigator 15 was released last year. But the navigator free with osm maps is 14.

Navigator15 free on wince 5.0 missing options,is this normal on the free download ??.

Hi,I have just installed Nav 15 free on a 7" pocket pc running wince 5.0,seems to be working ok,gps finding sats,etc.
However, I downloaded the instruction pdf, and, on my system I have 3 minor problems :-
1)   I have 8 menu icons on one page,I don't have a second menu page and have no icon to exit Nav 15 (I have to turn off the pc in order to return to the windows desktop,because, Nav 15 occupies the full screen).
2)  There is not an icon for settings on the menu to allow a personalisation of the system.
3)  There is no 2d/3d tag showing on the navigation map.

MapFactor sub-menus need 'go back' option

With my single button Meizu M2 Note (Android 5.1) and no 'go back' button, it's very difficult to exit some of the sub-menus. 
E.g. 'Settings' from Main Menu and 'Download Maps' from 'Map Manager' from Main Menu

The only way I've found so far is to swipe-down from top to get task bar, and then select 'MapFactor Navigator - touch to return'

Other screens get around this in various ways e.g. graphical map display has triple-bar option button bottom left, 'Tools' from Main Menu has (touch outside sub-form), 'Speed warning threshold' has 'Cancel/OK'

speed limit in OSM

Hello,
it seems that, using the OSM maps, speedlimits are shown only for the 'maxspeed' tag.
The tags 'maxspeed:forward' and 'maxspeed:backward' are not used.
This means that for areas with different speedlimits in the different directions the speedlimit will not be shown on mapfactor.
One Example is 'line: 206068976'
I'm using Navigator 12.3.0 on windows mobile.

Service road wrongly used in navigation

A route presented to me today uses a service road not far from my home that must not be used by the general public.  Its id is 200959560; its one tag is highway=service.  What must I change in OSM or set in MapFactor to prevent its consideration for public use?  'Other Road' is disabled.

Journey reset automatically

When in pedestrian mode, journey distance and time can be displayed on the map but will reset if you stop more than a few minutes, A new journey will start when you resume your walk. The reset stop time is not configurable. You have to scan the journey list and add previous recorded to current display values  to get the actual distance and time. A better behavior would be to give option to turn off automatic reset as there is already a manual "Start new journey" button available.

Program crash when navigating to current destination

Steps:
  • start program
  • Select "Search" menu
  • Select "Coordinates" tab
  • Select "Navigate" button
The program stops after a few seconds.

Context:
Version 2.0.33-master(1.2 GB/1.8 GB)
Running under Android 6.0.1 build MMB29Q
Core level 3.4.0-g8ba2631
On Nexus 7 (2013)

Display speed in tenths of kmh in pedestrian or bicycle modes

GPX playback does not show current position

If you display a map, then start a gpx playback for a route outside the map, the gpx run but the display does not change. 
But if you show the recording progress bar and manually move the position, then the "Current position" button on the display lower right will display the current recording position.,

GPX replay display bad state values.

When you replay a GPX file, current journey distance and time does not change. If you move manually the progress bar position, speed will display 32800 km/h.

GPX double playback

You can playback more than one GPX file at a time:
  • start a gpx playback
  • manually move forward the progress bar
  • on the map display, select the upper right 'Menu' button
  • restart the same gpx playback
  • watching the progress bar, you can see it process two positions 
  • at this point, even if you use the 'Stop' button on the right of the progress bar, the first gpx replay is still running and there is no way of stopping it.

selecting alternate destination does not update route

steps:

1. select destination

2. select navigate

3. select alt destination 

4. select navigate

user must "stop navigation" first, app does not update and does not indicate this (only obvious if beginning of route is different)

(using android app)

ps. doesn't sound like a huge deal but I was almost crushed to death (my car is now scrap metal) after passing my alternate destination and attempting to reverse in the dark on a narrow road.

railway station

Hey,

I miss railway stations in the free map :/
It would be great if they are not only visible in the map but also can be used for pedestrian and bicycle routing (bicycle should be calculated with slow speed, but normally there is no problem to access the station with a bike)

No GPS-device detected on Medion P4425.

Hello, everyone!

I am trying to get the Mapfactor Navigator running on a Medion P4425 with a built in GPS receiver at COM2 with 4800 baud. The OS of this device is Win CE. What modifications are neccessary in the settings file to enable the recognition of the GPS receiver?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hoe can I transport a .gpx file from an Android system to Dakota Garmin (GPS)/SD

See title.

I have done some efforts (Send to SD e.g., app from Google Play) and Garmin Exchanger: no result.
My Dakota is  recognised a mass storage, SD. One can transport a photo from the Gallary to the Dakota, but not .gpx (with Send to SD appl.).

I am empty with ideas, saw something like this on the web: I felt free to jump in and put my question here, may be someone recognises my wish.

My in-Dash GPS

Dear All,
I purchased an in-dash DVD-GPS unit for my Huyndai Van. The GPS uses a MicroSD card. It has European maps only. The GPS system can detect my current location (Morocco), but seems doesn't have Morocco maps.
I browsed the content of the MicroSD, I saw all country maps are as follows: France_ta.mca, Bulgaria_ta.mca, and it has a program called: Navigator.
After searching the internet, I have found the MapFactor site, it seems that this is what my GPS is using.
My questions:
- Should I re-install the program files and Morocco maps on the GPS MicroSD drive to make it to work in Morocco?
- Or Should I copy only the Morocco_osm.mca files on the MicroSD?
